Crystal Structure

The real samples usually have excess Fe at the interstitial sites of the Te layer, forming Fe1+yTe composition. Such excess affects the magnetic and electronic transport properties.

Structural property summary

  • Single crystal form: silver color, metallic luster, square/rectangle facets
  • Structure type: Layered, P4/nmm (room temperature)
  • Air sensitivity: stable
  • Exfoliation: Yes but not very easy

Transport Properties

Resistivity- Temperature dependence

  • Jump around 70K due to antiferromagnetic/structure transition
  • This transition temperature can be lowered by increasing the interstitial Fe content
  • The metallic behavior in the low T AFM state can be tuned to localization behavior by increasing the interstitial Fe content

Magnetic Properties

Magnetization- Temperature dependence

Note: Antiferromagnetic below 69 K.
