- Structure type: layered, tetragonal, P4/nmm
- Air sensitivity: ZrGeS is stable. However, compounds become increasingly unstable from ZrGeS to ZrGeSe and to ZrGeTe
- Exfoliation capability: Not easy, particularly for ZrGeS
